Every new patient at BrightSmile gets the same 75-minute first visit: digital forms done from your couch, a full exam with X-rays you can see on screen, a cleaning whenever gum health allows, and a written plan with real prices. Here's exactly how it works.
The walkthrough
Step 1
When you book, we text and email a secure link to your intake forms — health history, medications, dental concerns, and insurance details. Ten minutes on your phone from the couch, no clipboard in the lobby. Our front desk then verifies your benefits with your carrier before your visit, so you walk in already knowing what your plan covers and what your exam will cost.
Step 2
Your first appointment starts with a complete picture: low-radiation digital X-rays, intraoral photos you can actually see on the chairside screen, an oral cancer screening, and a gum-health measurement. Dr. Patel or Dr. Chen then does a tooth-by-tooth exam and walks you through the images in plain English — you see what we see, on the screen, before anyone recommends anything.
Step 3
If your gum measurements show a standard cleaning is appropriate, our hygienist does it in the same chair, same visit — no second appointment just to get your teeth cleaned. If we find gum disease that needs a deeper cleaning, we explain why, show you the measurements, and schedule it properly rather than rushing a half-treatment.
Step 4
Before you leave, you sit down with a treatment coordinator and get everything in writing: what's healthy, what needs watching, what needs treating, in what order, and what each item costs with your verified insurance already applied. Nothing is scheduled until you say so, and "do nothing for now" is always presented as an option when it's clinically honest.
Insurance & financing
We accept most PPO plans, including Delta Dental, Cigna, MetLife, Aetna, and Guardian, and we file all claims for you. Benefits are verified before your first visit, so estimates on your treatment plan reflect your actual coverage — not a guess.
Our in-house BrightSmile Plan covers two cleanings, exams, and all needed X-rays for a flat annual fee, plus 15% off other treatment. No deductibles, no waiting periods, no denial letters — designed for the roughly one in three Scottsdale patients who come to us without dental benefits.
For larger treatment — implants, Invisalign, veneers — we offer financing through CareCredit and Sunbit, with 0% promotional terms on many plans and approvals that take about 30 seconds chairside. Most patients qualify, including many who assume they won't.
Every recommendation comes with a written cost, insurance applied, before you're ever in the chair for it. If something changes mid-treatment, we stop and talk before your bill does. Surprise invoices are the number-one reason people avoid the dentist; we simply don't send them.
